Pet Drawings
There is something timeless and undeniably sophisticated about a black ink drawing. It is a medium that hides nothing; every stroke of the pen is a permanent tribute to the character and soul of your pet. My fine pen drawings are not mere copies of your photographs—they are a study of light, texture, and personality.
Using professional Unipin pigment liner pens, I meticulously build layers of intricate cross-hatching and fine linework to replicate the unique velvet of a muzzle, the wet shine of a nose, and that unmistakable "spark" in the eyes. These portraits celebrate the quiet dignity of our companions.
Stripped of the distraction of colour, the focus remains entirely on the form and the spirit of the animal you love.
Created on archival-quality artist paper, these high-contrast pieces bring a classic, gallery-style elegance to your home. Whether it’s a memorial for a long-time friend or a celebration of a new family member, a pen drawing is a powerful, detailed heirloom that speaks volumes through the simplicity of the line.
Pet Sketches
For those who want to capture the playful, vibrant, and light-hearted spirit of their pets, my Pen and Watercolour sketches offer a breath of fresh air. These pieces are about the "essence" of a moment—the tilt of a head, the wag of a tail, or a curious glance—captured with an artistic, contemporary flair.
I begin with a loose, expressive ink sketch to define the character, then breathe life into the work with delicate, fluid washes of professional watercolour. By layering pigment liners with gel pens and soft watercolour pencils, I create a sense of movement and warmth that feels alive on the page.
These sketches are designed to be emotive and "painterly." They don't seek the rigid perfection of a photo; instead, they seek the joyful, messy, and colourful reality of your pet’s personality. Small in size but massive in heart, these sketches are perfect for gifting or for creating a "story wall" of the animals that make your house a home. They are a celebration of the "here and now," rendered with love and a touch of artistic whimsy.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you work from photos or real life? I work exclusively from photographs, as it allows for the precision required for realistic pet art.
-
Can you combine pets from different photos? Yes! It is often hard to get animals to cooperate for one photo. I can seamlessly combine multiple pets into one cohesive scene.
-
Do I need to frame my drawing? Yes. Works on paper require framing behind glass or perspex to protect the pigment. Since I use standard paper sizes, you can use a pre-made frame or opt for custom framing for a professional finish.
-
Will you sell prints of my commission? I retain the copyright on every artwork. While I don't usually reproduce images of domestic pets (dogs, cats, horses), I reserve the right to use the image for business promotion.
-
Can I get a gift voucher? Yes! We offer digital vouchers that can be used here or on Coastal Art Australia.
